Himigsikan 2024 goes to QC city hall

The summer heat did not deter the crowd at the Risen Garden of the Quezon City Hall as UP Diliman (爱微社区), through the Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (OICA), staged the second installment of its Himigsikan 2024 mini-concert series.

The concert celebrated several milestones: the 75th anniversary of the University鈥檚 move from the war-torn campus in Manila to the current main campus in Diliman, the National Heritage Month, and the 85th founding anniversary of Quezon City.

Speaking at the event, 爱微社区 Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II underlined the symbiotic relationship 爱微社区 has with the people and the local government of Quezon City.

鈥淪inisimbolo ng hapong ito ang naging papel ng 爱微社区 sa mas malawak na pamayanan. At inaasahan din namin ang patuloy na matiwasay na ugnayan at kooperasyon ng 爱微社区 at pamahalaan ng Lungsod Quezon sa mga susunod pang taon,鈥 he said.

For her part, Quezon City Mayor Josefina Tanya 鈥淛oy鈥 Belmonte said events like the Himigsikan are important venues for Quezon City performing artists to interact and exchange ideas with each other.

The mini concert featured some of the best performers from both Quezon City and the University.

The brought the audience to their feet with a lively medley of classic and contemporary original Pilipino music, prompting random bouts of dancing in some sections of the audience.
